How do I get started?
Once you've determined you would like to start therapy with me, you can reach out via the link below or send a message below. I will then securely send you the initial paperwork to get set up in the system and get started. Once I have reviewed the information, I will work with you on setting up an Initial Assessment.

What is the Initial Assessment?
The Initial Assessment is a 60-minute video session where you and I get to know each other. I will ask you a lot of questions about yourself, what brings you to therapy, and what you want to accomplish from therapy. This session is not an "official" therapy session as its focus is information-gathering. I want to make sure I know you as best as possible before working together, and this session begins our therapeutic relationship! I will work with you on determining how often would be beneficial for video sessions and get that set up during this session.

What do therapy sessions look like?
Through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform, you are able to connect face-to-face in a traditional counseling format from the comfort of your home, office, or residence hall room. Video sessions are a collaborative way to work on different strategies and problem-solving skills to help you achieve your treatment goals. Each session begins with checking in on how things have gone since the last session then get into the specific area you would like to cover for the session. The session will end with reviewing what was discussed in the session, determining homework to accomplish before the next session, and confirming future sessions. Video sessions typically take place weekly or every other week.

Why Teletherapy?
Teletherapy has many benefits but a few of note include: affordability and being cheaper than in-person counseling, flexibility in being able to access services much quicker and easier than waiting weeks for follow-up appointments, and convenience in that it allows for more frequent interaction and connection to the provider.

Is Therapy Right for Me?

Counseling offers a variety of support that can help you obtain life balance, find solutions, and achieve overall wellness. There are many reasons why people come to therapy that range from every day growth issues like job performance and stress management, or big life events like divorce, the death of a loved one, or traumatic experiences. You may want to seek counseling due to an unexpected life event.

While working with a therapist, you will develop insight, gain support and learn new strategies for all types of life's challenges. Counseling can help address many issues including anxiety, couples conflict, depression, grief, and general life transitions.

Generally therapy is a good fit for those who are motivated to do the work in counseling that it takes to find balance and wellness. These individuals are willing to take responsibility and ownership over their lives to become more self-aware in order to create lasting change.

Do I Really Need Therapy?

It takes great courage and self-awareness to recognize when extra support is needed. Everyone can use some extra support at times in life, and therapists are specifically trained and experienced in listening and guiding individuals and families through life transitions, events, concerns and problems. Sometimes it is helpful to get the insight of someone who is not directly involved in the situation, who has an impartial view in order to offer valuable support that is weighted in years of training and experience.

Feel like your problems are not that serious? That is just fine! Many people come to therapy as a self-care tool to carve out "me" time in order to personally explore different areas of your life.

How Can Therapy Help?

Therapy provides long-lasting benefits and support. Therapy can increase your problem-solving skills, help you identify triggers, re-direct damaging life patterns, support you in overcoming obstacles, and enhance your coping strategies for issues like depression, anxiety, stress, and family conflict. Everyone can benefit from therapy; it can help you handle emotions from problems or life stressors, even if they are not life-altering or traumatic.

Is Therapy Confidential?

Therapy services are confidential. This means that whatever is shared between you and your therapist will not be shared elsewhere. However, there are exceptions.

  • If you have given written permission to share information

  • If you are involved, or become involved in a court case and you inform the court that you are involved in therapy services, your records may be subpoenaed

  • If the therapist believes that you are in danger of harming yourself

  • If the therapist believes that you are in danger of harming someone else

  • If the therapist has concerns about the abuse or neglect of a child or vulnerable adult
